- To update friends and family about what’s going on in my life. This blog actually started when my friend Kait moved to Australia. I encouraged her to start a blog to better update her network on her new and very far away life. In order to convince her to continue, I had to start/keep up on my own blog. Even though I may not have friends and family quite as far, sometimes with our busy lives, a couple miles can seem just as far as a couple oceans.
- To practice writing. I have been out of school since 2009, where I would have lots of opportunity to write. By updating a blog I get the chance to write more often, no matter how informal. I don’t like to always abbreviate and shorten my thoughts (ahem... twitter/facebook). As you might see from some entries, I like to over explain myself and this way I can hopefully maintain my that ability through the written word.
- To over explain myself. There isn't always enough time to speak as in depth as I would like to about everything on my mind. Plus, through a blog I can do it without forcing anyone to listen. If you find an entry boring you don’t have to wait until the end of my long-winded talk to get away, you can simply click the x button on the top of the window for an inoffensive/quick escape.
- To keep a journal-like record of my life. It’s always fun to look back and read about things in your life that get forgotten but might be worth a laugh or second-thought later.
Why do I have a blog?
Still deciding the main purpose, but for now the reasons/motivations for the blog are as follows:
