The End of 2011

After finishing my first semester of law school with my sanity and relationship thankfully still intact, winter break was more than welcome. I had a lot of not-thinking, not being in the library, and sleeping to catch up on. Overall, I would say it was a success, except that it came to an end and classes have started again. Alas, to keep myself distracted from the shiny new set of $500+ textbooks I should be reading right now, I will post about my first winter break since undergrad.

After a couple days of the above-mentioned catching up I had to do, the sister and I were off to Upstate New York for a much needed visit with our extended family. It was complete with seemingly infinite pepperoni rolls, sugar cookies, and board games. We even started a never before attempted bowling excursion to spice things up.

Welcoming The Year 1390!

Today is the first day of Spring, which means it's Persian New Years!

Aide shoma mobarak!

Last night, at 7:21 PM EST, the new year began. Although it has only been a few months since we celebrated the start of a new Gregorian calendar year, I'm always in the mood for fresh beginnings.

All this talk of new beginnings makes me think of that Bob Dylan lyric, "He not busy being born is busy dying." Such a great way to go through life. Sometimes people need a little encouragement to not let their lives become stagnant. There is way too much to learn, see, do, eat, and experience before it comes to that.

Anyways, if you just want a little fun celebrating music/see some interesting fashion choices then here you go:

And for those of you not that familiar with Persian New Year, here's a little background and information:

A Farewell to the Fabulous 2010

2010 has come and gone, even though it feels like only yesterday that I celebrated the start of 2010.

Beginning of 2010
Beginning of 2011

Still, I can’t believe how much has happened between those two pictures. After ending such a fabulous year filled with so much growth, first times, and fun, I'm reallyyyy looking forward to whatever is in store for 2011.
